About The Tutor
Hi, everyone my name is Joan. I was born and raised in the Philippines. My mother is from Cuenca, Batangas and my father is from Oriental Mindoro. The latter is the province where my family lived together. I have 2 siblings, a college professor and an international seaman. I speak my Filipino language, Tagalog and I also speak English. I finished BS Accountancy at Philippine School of Business Administration, Quezon City in October, 1995. My first job was a junior auditor in a small auditing firm in South Triangle, Quezon City. Less than a year I decided to take CPA board examination. Unfortunately it was not my fate to have a license. Then for three years I worked as an accounting assistant in a well-known department store first at North EDSA then in Fairview both in Quezon City. Year 2001 my parents decided to open again the store which was closed for a year in my hometown San Teodoro. From 2001 until 2015 I managed a small store with the help of my parents. Later I returned to Manila in 2006 and worked in different call centers. I went home to take a short vacation in September of 2009 and after typhoon Ondoy while I was there my father died. I decided to stay in my hometown and run the family store and have done so until we leased it out in June, 2015. I am presently working again at the call center in Manila. While browsing the internet I saw home based job hiring English tutors and it was at that point I told myself I am a Tagalog native speaker and I am sure there are people who would be interested learning my dialect. I had formal education of Filipino subject from my elementary until college same with the English. The store I managed for 15 years had given me also an opportunity to meet different tourists from different countries. Puerto Galera, a well known tourist spot in Oriental Mindoro, is next to our town San Teodoro and I became friends with my customers and had that chance share my passion of language with them. There were tourists I have spoken with that can speak Tagalog and there are many that want to learn. Those who can speak Tagalog can mingle with the native speakers and really have a great experience. I am glad you are able to read about me and feel free to contact me if you are interested to learn Tagalog via Facebook Messenger. My lesson fee is only $10 USD per hour and payment is through paypal account. You will be able to learn general conversation by having listening practice, writing practice and pronunciation practice.
